        Dear Mr. Harry Potter
I hope my letter finds you in good health.  It is with the utmost gratitude I write to you, as it is thanks to you, Mr. Potter, that I and my family are where we are today and not suffering else where.  While I'm certain my parents would like to thank you in other ways, my mother with treats and my father with money, I would rather show my respect and thanks with this simple letter.  There is little that I can give you, but do not think I don't realize just how indebted to you I am.  I have not forgotten how you've saved my life on countless occasions, nor will I ever forget such a thing.  

My family is quite thankful for your surprising support.  After the war, my father was fully prepared to be sent to Azkaban, as were my mother and I.  We'd expected our trials to be quick and for us to be given life sentences, like every other of his followers.  But instead you showed us  mercy, for whatever reason.  We all are grateful, whether my parents ever exhibit their thanks or not.  Were it not for you, I dare say we all would be serving the rest of our lives in prison.  It is also thanks to you that my wand is back in my possession, though it never would have left it's rightful place if you hadn't taken it.  But all that matters is that it has been returned, as it would be impossible for me to continue my studies had it not been.  I do not know if you plan on returning to Hogwarts as well, Mr. Potter, but  certainly you will be more welcome there than I.  I have not yet received word from the ministry as to whether or not I will be allowed to return to the school, but notice should be arriving before the end of the month.  

Do forgive me for sending this letter to you, however needed  it may be, so awkwardly and with no notice.  Had this been on my terms, I would have written this out more elegantly, but I awoke this morning to find your owl at my window, and she refused to leave until I wrote to you.  Or at least I hope she will.  As I've obviously not yet given her your letter, I'm still unsure.  But she and I both knew that this letter was quite overdue.  

And so, Mr. Potter, thank you for your generosity and time.

I'll be honest with you, I wasn't entirely sure if I should open your letter. Not because I thought you would have tried anything; but because I wasn't sure what to expect. Admittedly, a formal thank you had not been my expectation. Sorry my response isn't as formal, not really my thing I guess.

You honestly have nothing to thank me for. All I did was speak the truth at the trial. If it hadn't been for your Mother, I would have died in that clearing. So really, you should be thanking her. She was extremely brave to do what she'd done. If you can, give her my thanks. I truly couldn't have done it without her. 

I've done nothing you yourself wouldn't have done. You can be many things, but a killer isn't one of them. I'm sure if our positions had been reversed you would have helped me out as well. You had helped me out; during the Spring Holiday - sorry about taking your wand, but mine was broken at the moment.

And Sorry about Hedwig. I honestly had no idea how she knew where you lived. But if it makes you feel any better, she continuously pecked me until I wrote back. She may just want to have something to do after a year of doing nothing.

        Dear Mr. Harry Potter
I will admit that I did not expect a letter of the same quality in return, nor one at all.  Formality is something one must learn, and I doubt your upbringing included teachings of such.  I've learned that most muggles don't find formal letters a necessity, but my parents thought quite differently, hence this style that I cannot leave no matter how hard I try.  

I will also admit that I find no comfort in your owl's pecking for a reply, as she's doing the exact same to me right now.  Mr. Potter, have you ever actually trained this bird?  Our owls instinctually know how and where to deliver letters, but they must be taught proper etiquette so that these things don't happen.  Your owl has been staring me down since she brought this letter and won't leave my desk as I write it as if she's checking my grammar.  She must be rather eager to give you letters of any sort if she's coming to me to get them.  I have half a mind to send  this with my own owl, but out of the fear that yours will remain here until she gets a note to deliver herself will let her do her job.  

Here's to hoping she'll learn some manners and not force a return,
